Podcat #19: British Steel, and the problem with the AR system

written by Tom McPhail

Few individuals or organisations involved in the British Steel Pension Scheme debacle come out of it looking good.

This week on the podcat, Philippa Hann of Clarke Willmott provides an excellent explanation of what's been going on.

Tom and Philippa also talk about some of the persistent flaws in the regulatory regime, including  how advisers' ongoing struggles with securing professional indemnity insurance and being hit with endless FSCS levies contrasts sharply to the regime solicitors work under.

Philippa goes on to share some fascinating insights into the appointed representative system, and questions whether we should get rid of the AR model altogether and make everyone directly authorised.
