In this week's podca(s)t, Tom chats to Georgia Stewart, CEO of Tumelo.
Tumelo works with pension schemes and platforms to show consumers the companies their pension is invested in.
It then encourages retail investors to exercise their voting rights on the issues that matter to them, and plays back AGM results so people see how they can effect change.
Georgia discusses using investment as a lever for change, and the extent to which shareholder capitalism still works in a world where most investments are managed through fund managers and pension schemes.
She talks to Tom about the disconnect between people wanting to save the world in the wake of David Attenborough's The Blue Planet, and how they can use the money that's invested in their pensions and investments to do this.
Tom and Georgia also chat about what shareholder engagement should look like in the future, and companies going beyond the interests of retail investors to focus on the impact of investments on wider society.
