In a slight change to regular programming, the first podcat episode we're bringing you this week is a replay of pensions minister Guy Opperman’s straight-talking fireside chat with Tom at #langcatlive last week.

Topics covered include opaque costs and charges, statement season, the pension dashboard and who pays for state pensions in an independent Scotland ... let's just say a video clip on that last bit amassed over 20,000 views within hours of hitting Twitter.

Listen to the full interview here:

And why speak to one pensions minister when you can speak to two?

Our second podcat chat is with former pensions minister Sir Steve Webb, now a partner at consulting actuary firm Lane Clark & Peacock.

He reflects on his years in the pensions minister chair as part of the coalition government between 2010 and 2015, and discusses what he sees as the issues left to tackle on auto-enrolment and pension freedoms.
