Among the latest wave of MPS providers to join Analyser is Rathbones. If you’re in the process of carrying out MPS due diligence, here are some of the key points about what makes its proposition different.

Rathbones launched its LED managed portfolio service (liquidity, equity-type risk and diversifiers) in March 2017. It uses the Rathbone Multi-Asset Portfolio funds as the “investment engine” powering the MPS portfolios.

These include the over £1.6bn Rathbones Multi-Asset Portfolio Strategic Growth/MPS Balanced Plus fund, and the £394m Rathbones Multi-Asset Portfolio Total Return/MPS Cautious fund (data as at 30 September 2022).

With each MPS investing in its own multi-asset funds, advisers can track fund performance on a daily basis via tools such as FE.

Clients can access the LED ranges from £15,000, and the MPS fee for all portfolios is 0.25%.

The ranges available are:

- Rathbone LED MPS

- Rathbone Greenbank LED MPS (for sustainable investing)

Rathbones Investment Management has been awarded a ‘B’ rating for financial strength by AKG.

Rathbones strategic partner manager Polly Anderson says: “Our MPS is structured differently to most other MPS strategies in that it’s adviser-driven rather than discretionary, which typically adds layers of complexity. Our approach aims to make life easier for advisers and their clients with straightforward and client-aligned risk and return objectives.

“With our Multi-Asset funds as the investment engine, clients can benefit from the flexibility of a unitised structure, enabling us to use a wider range of assets than most platform solutions.

This helps us be more precise in managing risk and seeking opportunity, while also offering enhanced levels of transparency by showing underlying portfolio holdings in client valuations. The team at the lang cat were able to add functionality to Analyser to accommodate these important differences.”

There are currently 29 MPS providers available to research in Analyser. You can find out more about each of these, including Rathbones, on Analyser’s MPS directory
