Among the latest wave of MPS providers to join Analyser is Tribe Impact Capital. Here’s a summary of what the company is about, and what they believe makes their MPS proposition different.
Tribe launched its Sustainable Impact MPS (SIMPS) in November 2016, giving it a five-year plus track record in this space.
The business was part of the FCA’s Project Innovate, which aims to support firms in launching original products and services.
Tribe describes itself as the UK’s first dedicated sustainable impact wealth manager, with portfolios that are solely focused on positive, sustainable impact investing.
It is a Certified B Corporation and has committed to being net zero across all emissions measures by 2025.
Tribe takes what it calls a “twin-lens approach” to investment management, with one chief investment officer and one chief impact officer. Investments are assessed based on both potential financial returns and impact credentials. Tribe also reports on the impact of its portfolios.
Tribe Impact Capital co-founder and managing partner James Lawson says: “Sustainability is at the core of everything we do, from our mission as a business, through our operations, to the client offering. While some wealth managers offer impact investing as a small part of a broader portfolio, Tribe solely invests in businesses working for the benefit of society and the planet.”
He says advisers face a real challenge in choosing “authentic” sustainable MPS ranges that meet clients’ aspirations to do good with their investments.
He adds: “Our portfolios go beyond traditional ‘ethical’ investments, where companies and industries deemed to be unethical are negatively screened out. We actively select positive investments that directly contribute to global sustainable development and address a social, economic or environmental issue society is facing.
“We believe return and impact can sit comfortably alongside each other and further support the causes clients care about.”
