HomeGames on... Consolidation

In this edition of HomeGames, we tackle the thorny subject of consolidation in advice.

As it turned out, it was a very timely topic, held on the same day Aviva announced its acquisition of Succession Wealth for £385m.

Our panellists were:

- Adam Smith, chief operating officer, Fairstone

- Rob Stevenson, director, Kingmakers

- Kevin Ferriby, managing director, Informed Financial Planning

- John Baxter, chief executive, True Wealth Planning Solutions

We kicked off the discussion with reaction to the Aviva/Succession deal (as you'd expect), and went on to chat through whether the advice sector has gone back to providers owning 'distribution'.

Our panel also talked about some of the concerns financial planning firms have about consolidators, implications of the Consumer Duty rules for the market, and whether proper financial planning and vertical integration are really compatible within the same firm.

If you've got an idea for a subject you'd like us to cover in a future HomeGames session (or would like to suggest yourself or someone else as a panellist!), just let us know at [email protected]
