Regulators and policymakers are pushing forward a rapidly developing suite of rules, guidance and codes of conduct on how pension schemes and asset managers should engage in responsible and ESG investing. But what does it all mean to consumers and clients?

This week on the podcat Tom explores this issue with Caroline Hopper, lead consultant at the consultancy Quietroom.

They discuss how ESG investing can be communicated in a way that resonates, and the journey Caroline herself went on in understanding the relationship between responsible investing and pensions.

Caroline chats about divestment versus engagement, and the work Quietroom has done with organisations such as Make My Money Matter in talking to "accidental investors".

Caroline and Tom also talk about the plans around engagement season, how providers need to "be less afraid" in their communications in order to protect people from scammers, and how the industry as a whole needs to challenge itself to do more on making responsible investing the norm.
